      The short version: Shotnest's AI search, text recognition, and cleanup run entirely on your iPhone or iPad. We never upload your photos. We have no servers, no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect any personal data.
    

1. Data the app accesses on your device

Photo library. With your permission, Shotnest reads your photos and videos to build a search index, find similar photos, and power cleanup and Pro Select. You can grant full or limited access and change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Search index. From your photos, the app computes image feature vectors, recognized text (OCR), optional AI descriptions, scene labels, and face counts (how many people appear, not who they are). This data is stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
Photo location (metadata). If your photos contain GPS location, the app uses it on-device to group photos by place.
Your settings. Tags, protected photos, Pro Select projects, preferences, your Pro status, and the start date of your free trial are stored locally (app storage and the iOS Keychain).

None of this data is sent to us or to any third party. Deleting the app removes it. You can also rebuild or clear the index in the app's settings.

2. How on-device AI works

The natural-language search model ships inside the app and runs locally using Core ML.
The optional AI Deep Search model (about 2.2–5 GB) is downloaded only when you choose to. It is delivered by Apple through the App Store's On-Demand Resources service, not from our own servers or any third party. After download it runs completely offline on your device.
Text recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework.

3. Network connections the app makes

Shotnest does not operate any server. The app makes only these connections, all to Apple services:

Downloading the optional AI Deep Search model (Apple On-Demand Resources)	A standard download request to Apple's App Store servers.
Checking for app updates (Apple's public iTunes Lookup API, itunes.apple.com)	The app's bundle identifier and your device's region code. No personal data.
Place names for "browse by location" and place search (Apple's geocoding service via Core Location)	Approximate photo coordinates, rounded to an area of about 2 km. Photos are never sent. Results are cached on your device. This only runs while Pro features are available to you.
iCloud Photos	If you use iCloud Photos, iOS may download your own full-size originals from iCloud when you view, share, or compare them. This is handled by iOS between your device and your iCloud account.

4. Purchases

Shotnest Pro (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details.
Your purchase is linked to your Apple Account, so you can restore it on another device.
Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

5. Sharing, selling, and tracking

We do not sell, share, or rent any data, because we do not collect any. The app contains no third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or sign-in, and it does not track you across apps or websites.

6. Data you choose to share

When you share or export a photo or collage, it goes through the iOS share sheet to the destination you pick (for example Messages or Photos). That destination's own privacy policy applies.

7. Home Screen widget

The Shotnest widget shows library statistics and a daily memory. Its data is passed from the app to the widget through a shared container on your device and never leaves the device.

8. Children's privacy

Shotnest does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no data is collected, there is nothing to delete on our side.

9. Your rights (including California residents)

Because we do not collect, store, sell, or share personal information, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, or delete. All app data stays on your device and is under your control. If you have a question about your data, contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.

11. Terms of Use

Use of Shotnest is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).
